Doris days and perfect petticoats
Tuesday, 22 May, 2012
What would you do with 36 meters of chiffon? Well Doris Designs uses it to make some of the prettiest petticoats I have ever seen. I love petticoats as outerwear and this styled shoot showcases this look perfectly. This shoot has been styled has a hen tea party but these petticoats would also make great bridal and bridesmaids' accessories and they can be worn after the wedding. They would be great for anyone having a vintage themed hen party or if you were going for more of a rock look, this shoot shows you how to achieve both of these looks.

I don't have a shape that suits genuine vintage clothes but that doesn't mean you can't get the look by mixing vintage and modern styles. Some people can be a bit funny about it but I think we should be looking to the past for inspiration for the future and not always just trying to copy it. As long as you are being honest about what you are trying to achieve I think the blend can result in a really fun and feminine look. For a shorter petticoat you can also order a child's size 10–12 years, the waistbands stretch up to 40cms perfect for petite ladies.
I'm absolutely in love with the peach and grey petticoat this would be a great way to get a vintage look along with a more modern wedding palette and the brighter colours would create a totally rocking edge to a shorter wedding dress.
