A Burlesque Hen Do!

I love showcasing real life hen parties - today Rachael from Burlesque & Bubbly takes us behind the scenes of a recent Burlesque hen party she hosted in Liverpool. Although there were plenty of bright pink boas - there wasn't an L plate in sight - making it a hen party we're fans of! Over to Rachael -

I have the fun job of hosting a variety of themed hen parties, this weekend it was Burlesque! I had the pleasure of meeting a lovely group from Liverpool. Bride to be Jen, had been blindfolded and didn't have a clue what she was going to be doing for the next two and a half hours!

To my relief Jen - whose favourite movie just happens to be 'Burlesque' - loved dancing! I could tell she was so excited to begin, whether she could dance or not, this group just wanted to have fun, and that's definitely what it's all about!

The ladies arrived all dressed up in crowns, the colour pink and corresponding sashes. I loved the enthusiasm and energy they all provided. I must not forget to mention that there was also a gentleman taking part in the event , he happened to be the first boy I have taught for a burlesque party and extremely good at strutting just like Dita Von Tease!.... Boylesque anyone?

We were off to a fabulous start, after each person had been greeted with their arrival Pink Prosecco, they all created their own unique burlesque name with the fun and somewhat hilarious name game activity. Jen soon became ‘Fizz Von Bloomers’ and her burlesque babes were off to learning a selection of strutting , shimmying and shaking them hips with style.

I must say, the group learnt the routine to Christina Aguilera's 'Express' extremely quickly. I always make sure that the beginners routine is easy to pick up and also allows the group to add their own flamboyant moves and of course a moment in the spotlight for the hen!

Burlesque and Bubbly the 'Deluxe Package' takes place at the glamorous central location of Fonseca's on Stanley Street, Liverpool. After the dance activity, the group enjoyed a wine flight - containing three glasses of white, red or rose wine per person. They had time to relax and nibble on the selection of pink sweets and treats. Just before all the fun was over the group enjoyed taking pictures and posing using the selection of props, including fans, boas and gloves!

I had such a great time meeting Jen and her group -  Christina Aguilera and Cher should watch this space!

If you are interested in this package or even just the burlesque without the bubbly, I also have a local dance studio - handy if you are planning a meal in the city or continuing your boogie afterwards!
